Belle Malagasi is a handcrafted coffee liqueur produced in Madagascar. Made in the island's capitol city, Antananarivo, the coffee is picked from a nearby forest, roasted and cold brewed in steel drums for 18 hours while being infused with pure vanilla bourbon rum and other natural forest botanics. To reflect a native scene filled with beautiful colonial buildings, steep streets and cool climate, a palette of vintage island tints are paired with organic illustrations. A curvaceous logotype expresses the rare exotic nature of Belle.
Role: Logo and Packaging Design
Since Belle is an ambassador of its region, inspiration was taken from the local culture's traditional basket and textile weaving designs. To highlight the area's natural resources, which are used in the product, forest coffee plants provided reference for floral illustrations. Much of the culture was also influenced by France, so there were also hints of early French styled packaging labels.
